Bharatnatyam and Kathak Dance Styles

Bharatnatyam is  one if he eight Indian classical dance forms of India . this dance forms originated in the temples and courts of southern India. Later it was documented as a performing art I 19th century.

Today Bharatnatyam is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practiced by male and female dancers all over India and abroad. its variety of movements and postures and the balanced of the rhythmic aspect take this art from in a higher level and other aspects lend itself well to experimental and fusion choreography . 

The instruments which are used in Bharatnatyam are
Mridangam, Violin, Veena, Flute and Talam.

         The technique of Kathak is easy to understand by fast rhythmic footwork set to complex time cycles. The footwork is matched  by the accompanying percussion instruments such as tabla and pakhawaj and the dancer and percussionists often play with speed and ending in statuesque poses. the story portion, based on tales of Radha and Krishan and other mythological ore.

Salsa Dance Style

Salsa is a popular dance style originated from Cuba and many other parts of the world.
salsa is a couple dance, but there are also shines steps in which the couple separates for a while and each perform individual moves. You can perform shines steps alone, at your home in front of the mirror.

The new York style is danced with the first step on the second bit of the rhythm instead of on the first bit , to inexperienced dancer it looks exactly like the LA  style . At the salsa clubs, the DJ sometimes plays non salsa songs in order to diversify . salsa is the main ance you should know .

In salsa the couple is gearing around each other , there is not a fixed line .
There are two salsa styles one is Cuban and another is Los Angles. In a salsa club you can see both styles being danced during the same song, although there are songs which are more suited to each of the styles.

• Here are some steps how to perform salsa
• starts with both of your feet together .
• hold the beat on the first beat and do not move.
• on the second beat, step forward with your left foot .
• on the third beat, rock back on your right foot.
• on the forth beat, step back with your left foot. 

Belly Dance

Belly dance is an expressive dance which emphasizes complex movements of the torso. It is originally a middle eastern folk dance ,it has evolved to take many different forms depending on the country and region, both in costume and dance style. New styles have evolved in the west as its popularity has spread globally.

The term belly dance is a translation of the French term "danse du ventre" which was applied to the dance in Victorian era .

There are few movements which are found in belly dance and they are

• Percussive movements- staccato movements most commonly of the hips, used to punctuate the music or accent a beat. typical movements in this group include hip drops ,vertical hip rocks ,outwards hip hits ,hip lifts and hip twists.

• Fluid movement-flowing ,sinuous movements in which the body is in continuous motion, used to interpret melodic lines and lyrical sections I in the music. These movements require a great deal of abdominal muscle control. Typically movements include horizontal and vertical figure of 8 or with the hips these basic shapes may be varied and combined to create an infinite variety of complex textured movements.

In addition to this movements dancers I in many styles will use level changes, travelling steps, turns and spins. The arms are used to frame and accentuate movements of the hips , for dramatic gestures

and to create beautiful lines and shapes with body.

  

Contemporary

contemporary dance style is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several  dance genres including modern ,jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements . This dance genre is of often done in bare feet.

Earlier contemporary dance referred to the movement of new dancers who did not want to follow strict classical ballet and lyrical dance forms. but instead wanted to explore the area of revolutionary unconventional movements that were gathered from all dance styles.

Contemporary dances therefore do not use fixed moves and instead try to develop totally new forms and dynamics. Dancer who introduced and greatly popularized the contemporary dance to the worldwide audience was Maratha Graham.


Contemporary dance is like when you are performing  it you are going deep in  it no other thoughts enters into your mind. you just concentrate on that particular point .The moves in contemporary dance are very different  from other dance styles and the thing which is important in contemporary is concentration and expressions.
